Constructive Alignment

From the website:

Constructive Alignment, a term coined by John Biggs (Biggs, 1999) ... is the underpinning concept behind the current requirements for programme specification, declarations of Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) and assessment criteria, and the use of criterion based assessment.

A short film on the approach is here

You can't imagine how long I've been looking for anyone who even questions the corporate model of online teaching! Naturally I haven't spent too much time at any one instructor position: teaching a lie runs against my ethics. eCollege, BB, and the enterprises that use them "design" or "deilver" "learner solutions". If a learner is actually learning, who can say?
Finally, for now, learning management systems are more teaching management systems than otherwise, as they provide copious monitoring and control of the instructors.
