Online education

We are faced with a dilemma. Online education is convenient and when is appropriately conducted can be a godsend for busy students. A lot of face to face education institutes actually puts their courses online, either as a supplement for those who may have missed a class or as a general community service for anyone who is interested in learning something. The acceptance of a qualification from purely online education institutions has been mixed. This article describes some of the misconceptions of online education. However the real issue is the prolific number of diploma mills that operate solely online. The quality of education again depends on the certification of the institute, be it online or otherwise.

I have to agree with your observation it is about the institution. Potential students need to be informed consumers when choosing a program of study. This was an interesting article on the myths. My students repeatedly claim that online is harder, not easier. The course is designed the same as face to face but I think it is more intrusive on family time when you do online courses... so students' often notice the work more. Thank you for posting the article of interest.

Online education is the future and the way to go. But only when the media barons and propreitors want to make it free.
